We cannot undo the fire, but we can rebuild what it tried to take: our hope, our spirit, and our community.  LA Strong Sports is a coalition of neighbors, athletes, and partners committed to rebuilding the Pacific Palisades Park & Recreation Center.

UNIMAGINABLE LOSS

In January 2025, flames tore through the Pacific Palisades. Twelve lives were tragically lost. More than 83,000 residents were forced from their homes, fleeing with only what they could carry. When the smoke finally cleared, over 7,000 homes and 8,000 acres of beloved parkland lay in ruins.

Among the greatest losses was the Pacific Palisades Recreation Center, the heartbeat of community life for more than 20,000 Angelenos. For generations, it was where children learned to play sports, neighbors became friends, and families gathered to celebrate milestones, share meals, and cheer on Little League games.

The pain of losing the park and rec center to the fires continues to reverberate through the community.

“Many parents shared that their children inquired about the park’s condition before even asking about their own homes.”
—Jasmine Dowlatshahi, Sr. Director, Palisades Rec Center

WHY WE MUST REBUILD

  • Children lost the courts and fields where they built confidence and discovered the joy of play.

  • Seniors lost the familiar routines that kept their bodies moving and their minds sharp.

  • Families lost the anchor that structured their days and rooted them in community.

And when it was needed most, the fire took away the very place where neighbors would have come together to grieve, support one another, and begin to heal, deepening the isolation that so often follows disaster.

Today, three in four Angelenos affected by the fires report a decline in mental health. The loss of shared spaces leaves wounds no insurance can heal.

Rebuilding this critical community infrastructure is not just about restoring structures—it’s about rebuilding hope, and giving families a reason to stay and a chance to move forward, as a community.

OUR
RESOLVE

Our mission is simple: restore the heart of our community and create a national model for resilience.

That is why Steadfast LA & LA Strong Sports have joined forces with the City of Los Angeles to reopen a fully reimagined Pacific Palisades Park & Recreation Center by the end of 2026.

We are rebuilding in record time, matching the urgency this moment demands.

As the first major community space to rise after the fires, this project will lead the way for Los Angeles’ recovery and set a new standard for cities nationwide.
